Noun clouse is a phrase that depends on other sentences. Noun clouse can not stand alone because he does not have a complete meaning or dependent clouse used to say. There are several kinds of words commonly used in noun clouse such as when, why, where, whom, what, howwhose and which.

a.   A noun clause has its own subject and verb

A noun clause can act as the subject of the verb.

Example : He knows where I work

In this example, the noun clause is where I work. I is the subject of the noun clause; work is the verb of the noun clause.

b.   A noun clause can be used as a subject

Example : What he gets makes his family proud

What he gets is a noun clause, and is also the subject of the sentence. The noun clause has its own subject he and the verb gets.

c.   A noun clause can be used as an object

Example : I know where her house is

The noun clause is where her house. It is used as the object of the verb saw.

d.   A noun clause can be used as the object of a preposition.

EXAMPLE: I always paid attention to what my mather said.

In the example, what my mather said is a noun clause. It is used as the object of the preposition to.
